Life Moves Pretty Fast

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”  ―  Ferris Bueller It's so true. Last week I was checking out my many rose bushes and wondering when they would bloom. They seem late this year.  A few days later I was outside chasing one of my little dogs. She is losing her hearing and sight, but I swear her little legs are running faster than ever. It's never been like her to run off. While I was running after her (or more like hobbling and limping) I noticed a couple of bushes with a few roses.  After I got the pup settled and inside, I went back out to cut a few roses. The bees even took pity on me and allowed me to cut some of their sage blossoms. I placed the pretty little vase from my Mother's collection by a few Paris mementos.

Heart 2 Heart

When it comes to decorating for Valentine's Day, I really don't have to do much. As I was looking around my house, most of the hearts I have around the house are here almost 365 days of the year -  and the photos below are just half of my very unplanned and rather serendipitous collection of hearts.

I have various stone and glass hearts around the house, from the bedside table to the fireplace mantle. The top red is glass, the white is selenate quartz, the pink is rose quartz, and the brown is petrified wood.

Candleholders, soap dishes, and fabric hearts made of old antique quilts.

A copper mold hung on a kitchen cupboard, and I didn't even bother bringing out the collection of heart-shaped cookie cutters.

There's still another box full of heart-shaped jewelry that's not in this photo.

Some of the Valentines' my mother received when she was a little girl. The big red heart in the background is one of the first Valentines I made for my parents when I was in Kindergarten.

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

If you're spending it alone, be sure and treat yourself well.

  1. I love antique Valentines.. They don't make them like they used to. I shudder when I see horrific options for children at the store like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Valentines.. sigh.
