'Tis the Season: October 31
It's truly my favorite season. After a long hot summer, I welcome the cooler days and chillier nights. The days smell wonderful of harvest, wine crush, and the slow decay of the leaves as their organic compounds break down, creating the classic musky-sweet smell of a leaf pile.
There are fond memories of this season, as a child, I loved the Halloween parties at school and going out in the cool evening visiting friends and family trick 'r treating. Even the menus change with soups, stews, fruit pies, and the smell of spiced warm cider.
Last year during quarantine and with plenty of time on my hands I decorated throughout the house with Halloween decor, including a black Halloween tree. This year? Not so much. I decided to keep it somewhat simple. Happy Fall! Happy Halloween!
