Life Moves Pretty Fast

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”  ―  Ferris Bueller It's so true. Last week I was checking out my many rose bushes and wondering when they would bloom. They seem late this year.  A few days later I was outside chasing one of my little dogs. She is losing her hearing and sight, but I swear her little legs are running faster than ever. It's never been like her to run off. While I was running after her (or more like hobbling and limping) I noticed a couple of bushes with a few roses.  After I got the pup settled and inside, I went back out to cut a few roses. The bees even took pity on me and allowed me to cut some of their sage blossoms. I placed the pretty little vase from my Mother's collection by a few Paris mementos.

As We Enter 2025: Happy Blogging Anniversary to Me

Happy Blogging Anniversary to Me!
It will be twenty years "next year" since I started blogging in 2005. I chose the topic of wine. It went from a hobby to a profession. In 2018, I closed the Wild Walla Walla Wine Woman blog with no regrets. I met some wonderful people and celebrities and learned much about the wine industry. However, when things became no longer "fun," and work politics started creeping in, I knew it was time to move on. I wanted to leave while I still loved and had gratitude for the industry.

Today, I have put the wine away, but I'm still blogging. I now enjoy blogging about cooking, collecting, decorating, and cleaning up tiny dog poo.
People aren't reading blogs like they used to. In fact, even Facebook, a hybrid between a traditional blog and a social network, is a mini-blogging platform and is also losing customers. We now prefer looking at pictures and short videos of cats and reels of strangers dancing to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack in their dining rooms.

Me? Blogging? I can't break the habit. Besides loving the platform and the challenge of occasionally tweaking some HTML code, I will continue even if I am the only one left to read my words.

Do I have any goals for 2025? No, not really. I will continue what I did in 2023 and 2024: write when I want to, put in some sky and road miles, work on home updating projects, and hang out with people who make me laugh and whom I can learn from.

How will I celebrate the New Year? Just like I did in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. I will start New Year's Eve with the two Andys - Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper as they hang out at Times Square. I will have the best seat in the house. My choice of drink to bring in the New Year with a Tylenol chaser? Bonne Année!
